Thanksgiving

This year Sean and I got to spend Thanksgiving in St Pete Beach.  Sean's grandparents live there and we got to go to the Yacht club for Thanksgiving dinner.  It was fun too!!  Here are some photos from our fun time at the St Pete Yacht Club:

We liked this guy's outfit.
I'm pretty sure this is Mr Frederickson from UP.

My traditional Thanksgiving dinner at the club.
I had this amazing apple dessert!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Appreciation Dinner

The Sunday before Thanksgiving, Light at Fort Myers had an Appreciation Dinner/Thanksgiving dinner.  There was a committee of ladies who put this together and I was honored to be a part of this committee.  The idea of an "Appreciation Dinner" is to buy someone's meal that you appreciate.  It's that simple.  With the short time of planning this event, we did not do it the way we had originally planned but we still had a great turn out for our first one.  The meal for adults was 3 bucks!  And for kids, it was one dollar.  You can't beat this price for a Thanksgiving meal.  This will be annual event at Light.

The committee consisted of about 10 or so ladies.  We all cooked a turkey (if not more than one) & dressing, some of us cooked a ham, some did desserts, some did the mashed potatoes & green beans.  We asked the congregation to bring dessert as well.  Some of the ladies decorated the fellowship hall.

This is us meeting a week before the event to make sure we all know what we are doing.  We had a great time planning this event for the church.

The four pictures below are what I made for the dinner: brownies, cupcakes, ham & turkey.

This is my TURKEY recipe that I used.  It turned out great!!  Well, I actually did not try it but Sean did and said it was great, so I will be doing this again.  I did it in a crockpot because I have never cooked a turkey and you can never go wrong with a slow cook meal.  Plus, this was easy & recommended by one of the ladies for me to do.

Below are some random photos of the event.  Please disregard the alignment of them, I am having some issues with the photos aligning properly.  I hope you enjoy them!

The ladies above are amazing.  Deanna (left) made the fellowship hall look wonderful!  & Gaila (right) was our wonderful director of this whole event!

This is my plate of food.  It was delicious!  Sorry but I prefer ham instead of turkey on Thanksgiving.

We had over 200 hundred people come to eat & fellowship with us!  We were so thankful to have guests and family to come to this event.  We cannot wait for next year's dinner!  We also had entertainment throughout the meal.  Thanks to all who performed!  You all did a great job!!

beauty seen from the outside

"All beautiful you are, my darling, there is no flaw in you."
Song of Solomon 4:7

I hope you enjoyed this video as much as I did.  I basically cried at the end of it.  I think we need to start believing the compliments we receive from others.  I know I need to believe.  How many of you actually believe when your husband tells you, you're beautiful?  I know I don't believe mine every time.

The verse above is my absolute, favorite verse.  It has been favorite verse since college.  I even have a tattoo that is based from this verse.  Every girl wants to know how beautiful they are.  They may not mention it but they do.  So, to know that Jesus sees me with no flaw makes me smile.  So thankful for Jesus and I'm so thankful for my husband.  He sees me as beautiful when I don't.

wednesday wisdom

So my Wednesday wisdom has continued over to Thursday.  I started this yesterday but did not get to finish...
BUT
This quote is so true!  How can you live for today and the future if you cannot let go of the past?  I am guilty of this myself.  I remember how I did things in Alabama and I think to myself, "why can't I do this again now?" or "I wish I was still like I was back then." If I keep doing this, I will completely miss what I am supposed to do in Florida and I would not fulfill my duty as a wife to Sean.

So I challenge you to move forward with remembering the past, but not letting it decide your future.  This is a challenge for myself too!  Let's do this together!

1 year anniversary

Sunday was our one year anniversary!  I cannot believe it has already been a year of marriage.  It has been a great first year.  I do feel like it was a some what of a hard first year too.  I have been trying to go from Miss Independent to a Dependent married woman.  Fortunately, I am learning that it does not mean that I have to become completely incompetent.  I am still working on the dependency thing but it has been a wonderful year with Sean and I seriously cannot live my life without him.  God sent me the best man.  He is truly my better half (Sean, don't let this go to your head).

So our original plans for our 1 yr getaway was to go back to Bama for a wedding, UA v LSU (ROLL TIDE!), and see friends and family.  We ended up not going home due to lack of funds (trying to pay off bills).  So, we just had a low-key weekend to ourselves.  It VERY needed and we loved every lazy second of it.  Friday night we went to dinner at Carrabba's.  It was a great meal and the best part of that night was an engagement!  An elderly couple sitting across the restaurant got engaged!  Love does not die after a certain age.  It was beautiful and they looked so happy.

Saturday,  we went to the fair!  I was so excited because I have not been to the fair since I was a kid.  We had a great time!  There was a petting zoo, games, food, and all of the regular things you would see at the fair.  Here are some pictures from the fair.

There was a section of different animals from the around the world.  It was pretty incredible.  They had a tiger, a bobcat, lemurs, parrots, monkeys, and more.

A lemur

A silver fox that is so pretty!

The biggest porcupine I have ever seen.

Here are the petting zoo pictures:

The goats loved the people that they would jump on the gate.

The best parts of the fair: funnel cakes for me & fried oreos for Sean.  We were happy to have these items & very thankful we do not eat these often.  HA!

Do you recognize what movie this picture is from?
The last music scene in Grease!

Sean got me something cheesy... A hat that says "Sean's Girl." I did pick out the hat and saying.

On Sunday, we went out to lunch and then had ice cream for dessert!  We did eat our top layer cake since we moved and that didn't even last us a whole year!  We actually ate some of our cake a month after we were married.  We did not get to really eat any of our cake on our wedding day so we decided to break the tradition!

Since we got married, I have been wanting to have our vows written out & framed by our bed. So for our one year we decided to get a flat canvas, paint it a little bit, & write out our vows on them. I did mess up on mine a little bit because I am easily distracted but they turned out great over all! I can't wait to buy some frames for them to hang on our wall. Right now they are propped on top of our headboard.

We want to thank everyone who wished us a great anniversary! We had a great anniversary and we are thrilled to spend another year together as one.
